Generation West Virginia Broadband
When Generation West Virginia’s team began to hear complaints about broadband access in 2014, they knew they had to act. Understanding that inadequate access to the internet was a barrier to many people (young people especially) staying in the Mountain State, they enlisted 84 Agency’s help to establish and mobilize a diverse coalition around a common purpose: to pass a bill expanding broadband coverage statewide.
Over the course of three consecutive Legislative Sessions, 84 Agency oversaw efforts to forge connections within and across communities, engage potential constituents, and plan and promote major advocacy events. In 2017, our collective effort was successful, resulting in the first major broadband legislation in West Virginia which has served as the foundation for further advancement of internet connectivity in the Mountain State.
